The Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar Gaviria, who died in 1993, made a bonfire with two million dollars in cash to prevent their daughter from dieing of cold. Once in hiding in a farm in the mountains surrounding the city of Medellin, he did everything humanly possible to save the lives of his family and body guard.

This revelation was made by Sebastián Marroquín, the name which for years has Juan Pablo Escobar Henao, son of the former Medellin cartel chieftain in an interview with the Colombian magazine 'Don Juan' that began circulating this week in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to Marroquin, who for over 15 years  is living legally in Argentina with his family, said his father made this fire with tickets because the people who accompanied him in the hideout went cold, besides hunger, they had few supplies, and the worst affected was his sister Manuela.

On the other hand, he explained that one of his father's invariable custom was to see the television news and read every newspaper he could get.

"No matter the danger to be. In the morning you read all the newspapers of Colombia. At midday and at night he sat down to watch the news, never said a word. He noted, pointing things sometimes and when he finished the news simply turned off the TV, "he said.

He recounted that his father became obsessive about protecting his wife, Maria Victoria Henao, and his two sons, after suffering an attack in the hideout where he died.
